Material Overview

ESD Foam — Precision Protection for Electronics

Electrostatic discharge is one of the leading causes of damage to sensitive electronic components damage that is often invisible but catastrophic to performance and reliability. ESD foams are engineered with conductive or dissipative agents incorporated into the foam matrix, giving each grade a precisely controlled electrical resistance range that either prevents static buildup, safely dissipates charges, or instantly drains them away. kristoFOAM supplies all three grades in polyurethane, polyethylene, and crosslinked PE base foams, die-cut, laminated, or fabricated to your exact specifications.

Anti-static, static dissipative, and conductive each grade is engineered to a specific electrical resistance range, giving you the exact level of ESD protection your components require.
Prevents Costly ESD Damage
Prevents Costly ESD Damage
ESD damage is often invisible at the time of occurrence but causes latent failures in the field. The right foam grade eliminates static buildup or safely dissipates charges before they can reach sensitive components.

The ESD Resistance Spectrum

ESD foams are classified by their surface resistance, the lower the resistance, the faster a charge is drained. Selecting the correct grade depends on the sensitivity of the components being protected and the environment in which the foam is used.

01
Anti-Static

Anti-Static Foam

Inhibits the buildup of static electricity on the foam surface. The highest resistance of the three ESD grades ideal for general electronics packaging where contact-level static prevention is sufficient.

Typical Uses
  • General PCB packaging
  • Consumer electronics inserts
  • Component storage trays
  • Retail electronics packaging
  • Shipping foam for low-sensitivity parts
02
Static Dissipative

Static Dissipative Foam

The mid-range ESD grade safely dissipates static charges at a controlled rate, reducing the risk of damaging discharge spikes. Widely specified in electronics manufacturing and handling environments.

Typical Uses
  • ESD-safe work surface matting
  • Semiconductor handling
  • Circuit board storage and transport
  • Electronics manufacturing line foam
  • Military electronics packaging
03
Conductive

Conductive Foam

The highest-performance ESD grade instantly drains charges to ground and provides excellent EMI shielding. Essential for protecting the most sensitive components and for applications requiring electromagnetic interference suppression.

Typical Uses
  • IC chip and microprocessor packaging
  • EMI shielding gaskets
  • Aerospace electronics
  • Defence and military electronics
  • High-frequency component handling
